Biography
STELLA
Rebellion Figurehead
For the sake of the story, Stella is an Arcane Dragon
|
Born of a purely political union between Light and Arcane, 'Stella' was eldest of her clutch but dismissed as inferior in the wake of her sister Reva's hatching. Fearful of what would become of them, their Mother frantically arranged for her guardian daughters to be cared for, pulling political and social strings to secure them homes away from their Father, His Majesty, King Resh. Stella's uncle hastened to assure his sister that he would see Stella raised as the princess she ought to have been. Stella was far too young to remember that day, and has only the faintest of memories of her mother and sisters. Though loved and thoroughly spoiled, Stella harbors nothing but bitterness for her father and His heir, a hatred planted and kindled by her uncle. Nevertheless, she is desperate for His recognition. She cooks up dangerous but childish fantasies of her inevitable return, occasionally rallying fellow village brats into escapades of mischief and play-pretend revolution in which she is the hero. To curb her troublemakering schemes during his growing extended absences, Kabir secures his niece a wardship with the new Baroness, Brazlen. Their mutual loathing is absolute and immediate, but as it is Kabirs only stipulation for accepting the work the Baroness needs the captain of her city guard to do, the gracious lady accepts his terms. Their lessons together are brief, Brazlen often turning her unwilling student loose on an aide, or to do as she pleases when an already meager patience runs dry. Stella slowly learns to be a proper lady of the court. And loathe as she is to give up street life to take on the role of a prim and proper lady, she enjoys dressing up in the rich fabrics and glittering jewelry afforded by the social elite. Loves to show them off to her friends on the street, convincing them of the truth of her claimed heritage. Rumors like that have a way of spreading, creeping between tongues like a virus. The rich are no more immune to rumor than the common. When Brazlen hears of a secret heir to the Arcane throne, she endeavors to enlist the child. Palpable was her disgust when the child who turns up is no other than her detested ward Stella. With childish impudence Stella insists she isn't lying, her mother and uncle are of the royal bloodline of Light. Her father is the very king Brazlen serves. Unwilling to believe such lies - for the baroness has met the heiress and she is well mannered and regrettably polite - Brazlen sequesters Stella up in the manor until Kabir can corroborate her story. Much more to her dismay when, upon his return, the captain reluctantly confirms the story. Though it pains her to do so, Brazlen acknowledges the advantages to having the idiots kings brat under her wing and quietly folds this new information into her plans for revolution. |
