Aleros

Aleros, a wandering child and black sheep of his clan, has a rare intelligence that propels a curiosity about the deep magics of the world. His greatest wish is to uncover the secrets of ages past and the vast mysteries that thread the landscape of Sornieth. His studies of ancient archaeology and technology led him to researching the fragmented stories of the First and Second Age, and sparked a new quest: to return to the place where the gods shattered. With a thirst for knowledge, Aleros set off for the realm of the Earthshaker and swore allegiance to the mighty father of earth, and began dedicating his life to learning the history and the secrets of dragonkind.

For years he lived in Terraclae, building reputation and a living serving the Dragonhome Preservation Guild. While excavating the Greatwyrm’s Breach, he met a Guardian who called herself Zarazne, The Earthbound. The Guild began negotiations with her clan, who had for generations defended the Breach and territories surrounding the remnants of the great Pillar. Reluctantly, and largely due to the charm of Aleros, The Clan of Eons agreed to allow further excavation and exploration of the Pillar by the Guild.

Aleros, charmed by the strength and loyalty of this paladin of the ancient ways, promised to help Zarazne in her quest to honor The Search of her ancestors by building her own clan to follow in her footsteps to defend the Pillar and Sornieth from the follies of its past, and the encroachment of the Shade. They remain mated to this day, and have shared brood with none other than each other as they walk the path of Eons together.

Aleros is a patient and caring father, an avid researcher, and a brilliant scientist. He can learn just about anything in the blink of an eye, be it excavation techniques, ecology, botany, or the study of ancient technology. He spends much time in meditation and stands by Zarazne's side in battle. He has joined Zarazne's Clan of Eons and has begun helping her build her own family, taking in researchers, lost hatchlings, and bearing his own broods that he raises with a compassionate and wonder-minded way.

Aleros often provides a softness to Zarazne's strength and reminds her not to take things so seriously all of the time. She was swayed by the brightness of his curiosity and the sharpness of his wit, and though she would never tell anyone, he was the only thing to cause her any morsel of doubt about her preordained destiny to remain as the Earthbound's defender. She is the order to his waywardness and the anchor of his chaos, and he the breath of fresh air in across her windy mountain top.
