Like his parents, Aker is many things: a mercenary, a scoundrel, a gambler, a cheat. He changes 'occupation' like a flea jumps from mongrel to mongrel. Then, a couple of years after leaving the Wasteland, he finds himself a deckhand on a pirate ship terrorising the waters near the Arcanists's domain. The allure of the captaincy keeps him up at night, and a few months after settling in with the crew, Aker stages a mutiny. It goes well, until it doesn't--until he finds out that for a pile of murderous, plundering cutthroats, the crew's loyalty is bone-deep. Soon, Aker and his few collaborators finds himself on the wrong end of the cutlass and the plank. There's nothing but vast ocean as far as the eye can see, and Aker's been treading water for hours. Cold and exhaustion are taking over. This is it. Tall and wiry with a tendency to hunch into himself, which makes his enemies and 'allies' underestimate him. You could say that he looks like a rat, but that would be a disservice to the vermin. It is little surprise that hatchlings born to a wastelander and a pirate in the middle of the Scarred Wasteland tend to grow up fast. They are exposed to a life of brutal survival, vicious death, and, of course, crimes of all kinds; some may become disillusioned with the violence and seek other paths while others dive in headfirst,fully embracing this way of life. Growing up in an environment as harsh as the Plaguebringer's domain is sure to leave scars, and it is up to them to either hide the marks behind smooth silk and soft cotton or to display them proudly. But when it comes to independence, there is little doubt that all of them love the thrill of the fight, the rush of adrenaline in their veins, and the howl of the tempest in their ears.
