MISKATONIC UNIVERSITY
Miskatonic University is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions for higher learning in all of Sornieth. It is located in the city of Arkham and is named after the local river. The campus is instantly recognizable for its stately (if crumbling) architecture and picturesque landscaping. Equally renowned is its library, which even hosts a copy of the Necronomicon.

The university boasts wide range of departments (including medicine, psychology, mathematics, physics, zoology, geology, chemistry, engineering, archeology, history, folklore, foreign languages, and many more). The university takes great pride in their academic standards and frequent publications; as a result, outsiders tend to think that the university is insufferably elitist.

Although most students and professors are too "well-learned" to be superstitious, the university offers a surprising amount of information on the occult. The inquisitive ones often investigate themselves, and they are adept at explaining the supernatural with rational arguments and complicated science.
