Szadek didn't mean to end up where he is in life, but who can honestly say that they did?

If someone asked him what he thought his parents might've expected from him, he might pause and think for a second, but in the end he only has blind guesses. To become a mage, maybe, or to join the ranks of the exalted - both are respectable professions, but he doesn't have the aptitude for one nor the devotion for the other. He likes running around and scoping out uninhabited landscapes too much to settle down in a conventional role.

When he'd been presented with the opportunity to join the Goldenclaw Mercenaries, he'd barely asked any questions. A different dragon might be regretting that now, but Szadek thinks that as long as he gets to stretch his wings and spend time by himself, with the scenery around him, looking the other way from some less savoury activities is a small price to pay. And besides - they look like interesting people to be around. He's not so far from his youth that a little bit of adventure doesn't stir in his soul sometimes, and now he just has to figure out how to make friends when much of his work takes him away from the clan for long stretches of time.
