Finally, the couriers returned, but neither they, nor the prophets, called Game Mediators, answered questions about the girl, who vanished without a word. Sornieth was left to wonder, who was Naomi? What was her relation to the exalted? Was she their caretaker? Their Warden? Did she keep them from returning, or merely care for them as they served their duty? Did she serve the deities? Or, as they had no record of her, did she serve the Shade.
Talk of her was restricted to whispers in the Shadow, even after one of her children was discovered to dwell in Sornieth still. Though she no longer bears young, Willow has had many children, and the line of the one termed ‘Gatekeeper’ continues to this day.
