Cocytus the "River of Tears." Alas all the tears of the world converge here to form a river, woeful, and absent of light. Cocytus is wise but grim and speaks little to those he does not recognize. Sadness all around has made him numb, so he can be appear as uncaring and unsympathetic. He keeps his company small him around, much like his father; Tartarus, for he finds little interest in small talk and artificial encounters. Cocytus prefers to seek truth, as one can find much solace if one can only see clearly.
Of four infernal rivers that disgorge/ Into the burning Lake their baleful streams;/Abhorred Styx the flood of deadly hate,/Sad Acheron of sorrow, black and deep;/Cocytus, nam'd of lamentation loud/ Heard on the rueful stream; fierce Phlegethon/ Whose waves of torrent fire inflame with rage./ Far off from these a slow and silent stream,/ Lethe the River of Oblivion rolls/ Her wat'ry Labyrinth whereof who drinks,/ Forthwith his former state and being forgets,/ Forgets both joy and grief, pleasure and pain. — John Milton's, "Paradise Lost"

"The sadness is a crushing weight here, I can hardly breathe for at the same time I lack the will..." Styx wailed out breathlessly.
The moans and cries of despaired souls could be heard throughout the cavern. The place reeked of despair and longing for what could of been or what was and now is lost. This deep sadness reached into your soul, till it choked you and filled you with such heavy grief.
"You must shut down your senses, dear sister. You must learn to ignore the things you cannot control and seek to focus on what you have." Cocytus replied. His iridescent scales seemed to come alive as the souls of the departed passed by; their flow, an eerie presence along with the ever present wails of their despair. Cocytus narrowed his gaze ahead, as if he were concentrating.
"Some drown here in their sorrows. We are all voyagers in this journey. Sadness teaches us to recognize loss." Cocytus continued. "Be warned though, one cannot shut down oneself for too long, or one will find it harder to find the path back."
Styx took a deep and forceful breath in and shut off her peripheral senses and focused on her brother. His iridescent scales gleamed as the glowing lights of the lost souls passed by. His was a commanding presence with his dark horns that reached like branches above his head. Cocytus was a brilliant sight within these cavern walls.
Just ahead, Lord Acheron, "River of Pain" stood silently before them as they approached the Stygian Marsh. A proud and boastful dragon, Acheron, commanded a presence himself. Acheron always made sure he would be the first to be acknowledged at every gathering.
"The feast awaits, come and have your fill!" Lord Acheron, exclaimed. "My heart is gladdened to see you you both here!"
Styx and Cocytus coiled around their brother, horns entwining in shared admiration and respect.

Cocytus

Cocytus is a G3 Ausra/G4 Imp, a glitched scroll lineage dragon. There were three hatchling from the dragon Firuxe; who had a faulty imperial scroll applied to him. Firuxe was changed back to a wildclaw but his hatchling remained imperial dragons. Styx's father, Tartarus is the 16th hatchling to Ausra and from the last clutch to be publicly sold. Acquired from act on Sept 10th, 2021. Cocytus is the third born of Tartarus and first of the Underworld series dragons.
