The Strange One

"Don't you hear those whispers in the darkness?"

Makuye has been touched by something odd. He hears strange whispers in the dark. His presence makes every dragon feel slightly uncomfortable, as if something in his aura drives them away. The other hatchlings are afraid of him (except his brother, who seems to fear nothing.) The elder dragons are worried. Starlight tried to foresee his fate but could not read anything but dark, cloudy mist. Even the oracles Oakheart and Magica are at a loss. For this reason, Makuye does not have any close friends. He does not mind at all, and even does his best to push away those who try to connect with him. He thinks others are narrow-minded and short-sighted and cannot see his special gift. He is determined to follow those voices that call him, and gain the powers they promise.

But sometimes, when he sees the other dragons play and enjoy their lives, he wishes to be just a normal, ordinary dragon. He then realizes he is lonely, and believes nobody would care if he just disappeared. Deep inside his heart, he suffers. But one day, long after he had given up on himself, Ivae was born. She was small and helpless, but she was never afraid of him. She crawled to him, sat next to him and was just there. Makuye was irritated, but for some reason he liked the warmth of the body next to him. Ivae started to follow him where ever he went. He told her to stay away, but she did not listen, and Makuye became accustomed to her presence. In truth, he is afraid to lose her, but he could never admit that to anyone, least of all himself.
