» Adustus was once destined to be exalted in the name of her clan and sent off to serve the Shadowbinder. Her original clan was small, with no truly experianced warriors, so they hired Xero as a trainer. All the other trainees were excited for their destiny, but he could tell Adustus had other wishes. Xero met with the leader of Adustus's original clan, and offered a discount on his services if they would let him take in Adustus and free her from her intended destiny. The clan leader, suprised, gave his agreement, and Xero brought Adustus to live in The Floating City.

» Once she arrived, Adustus looked around, feeling free but nervous. She wanted to become someone who would make Xero proud that he saved. She met many of the others, and Onaji, in his kindness, offered her a place to stay instead of the Inn. She accepted, and love blossomed. They soon became mates.

» Even with her new mate, she was not satisfied. In her determination to become someone Xero would be proud of, on a visit to earth territory she signed up for a two month long intensive training course. The Floating City didn't stay there, of course, at least not the whole time, but Xero promised to return when the time was up. And indeed he did. He returned to find Adustus as an equal in strength to him, and when he greeted her he smiled wide, and told her just how proud he was, how glad he was that he had brought her in. Adustus finally felt like she truly belonged, and her loyalty sat firmly with Xero and her new friends... no, her new family.
