Gwyndon was born to the Clan of Stolen Fires' Progenitor, Talvian, and the Scion of Inferno, Gwyndolin. His decorated lineage imparted a particular strong affinity for fire magic. He learned from a young age that he was different from others because of his parentage, and spent most of his time alone with books.

Verian took him under his wing to train him in the arts of pyromancy as his parents were always busy with their own duties. He saw Verian as more of a parent than anyone else and under her guidance he grew to be a fine young man. Once he completed his pyromancy sorcery apprenticeship however, he didn't quite know which path to pursue... should he join the elite Wings of Dark Sun? Or perhaps another path leading towards an old tower in the distance...

A young sorcerer fresh out of his apprenticeship stumbled upon the dilapidated spire, it's inhabitants seemingly gone like the wind. His claws clicked on the polished stone floors of this glittering tower and he clutched his tome more tight to his chest. As he wandered deeper inside he could hear shouting, the sounds of fighting and the tell-tale crackle of electricity in the air. The sulphurous smell reminded him of when his parents taught him of harnessing the lightning generated through superheated water and magmatic forces.

He broke out into a sprint and followed the red flashes through the corridors. Huffing, he finally found the source - a dusty training ground left to mostly wither and rot, aside from the minimal maintenance. Inside there was a beautiful wildclaw mage performing acrobatic feats to shoot red lightning at targets that would pop up periodically, ordering a mechanical dragon to do the same. Gwyndon's maw fell agape at the graceful display.

The mage struggled to catch her breath as she landed from the last flip, beating her wings twice to clear the dust from her back. "How was that, Captain?" she voiced, looking up to one of the surrounding seating areas. Gwyndon turned his head to look where she was facing and now realised there was a mirror sitting in the stands, adjusting his glasses as he made some more marks on the tablet in his hands.

"Wonderful work, Carvathis, you always find new ways of impressing me!" he exclaimed.

Sucking in a breath she let out a chuckle. "You always say that, Cpt. Zerox."

"Oh, but it's true! And I believe our guest over there thinks so too." He said, all four eyes creasing as he gave toothy grin.

Carvathis, the wildclaw mage, rounded quickly to face Gwyndon, her mechanical dragon arming its defences. "You there, what business do you have with the Gilded Guard?" She asked.

Gwyndon gulped and clumsily walked into the arena proper, clutching his tome so hard he nearly tore into the leather-bound covers. "I, um, well. I-" he cleared his throat and looked around the arena sheepishly, "I recently completed my magical apprenticeship under Madam Verian and I was searching for my place in the clan. I saw this tower here and thought perhaps I... Well, after that display, I would love to join the Gilded Guard!" He explained.

Carvathis looked shocked, and then grinned as she turned to face Zerox again. "Did you hear that captain? The Guard isn't over yet - this one here wants to join!" The wildclaw mage could hardly contain her excitement.

The captain clapped his forepaws together in joy, leaping down from his seat to join the two on the ground, his tablet all but forgotten. "Wonderful news lad, wonderful indeed!" He exclaimed. "it's so good to see the newest generation show a keen interest in the prosperity of the Clan."

"I, oh yes, definitely." Gwyndon gulped.

"Carvathis, you and I should get this place cleaned up for our newest recruit - Oh instead, why don't you, um. I regret that I haven't asked your name..." Zerox trailed off.

"Gwyndon, sir!" the smaller wildclaw replied, his crown puffing up with anticipation.

"Oh, Gwyndon, are you perhaps Gwyndolin's son? But she is a coatl from memory... Who is your father then?"

"Yes, I am the son of the scion Gwyndolin and our leader Talvian - that's why Madam Verian was my teacher! Mother and father are always so busy..." Gwyndon's crown fell at that, and he sheepishly scratched his primary claw in the ground.

"By the Flamecaller! Then you must be very skilled in fire magic?" Carvathis exclaimed rushing over. She quickly began examining his wings, feathers and face.

"Well you would be a welcome addition to the Guard." Zerox said with a smile. "Carvathis!" He then exclaimed, snapping the wildclaw out of her daze.

"Yes Captain!" She replied.

"You, Gwyndon and I will begin cleaning up this arena, then we can look at his skills with fire." He said. "All going well after that, we'll find you a bed in here somewhere and we'll kit our newest recruit in his armour."

"Um capitain?" Carvathis began, but was quickly cut off.

"Then you can begin working with him as his mentor. Does that sound good to you both?"

"Yes!" Carvathis excitedly shouted. Gwyndon could only nod in response.

"Good! Then lets begin." The captain said with a smile. He pushed up his glasses again with a foreclaw and turned to the arena, surveying the work.

"Let's get started, newbie!" Carvathis said with a wink, bumped Gwyndon in the side, and ran off into the stands to gather a broom and shovel. She tossed these items in Gyndon's direction, who clumsily caught both before they clattered to the floor and awkwardly began sweeping the arena.

And thus began Gwyndon's future as the newest, and currently third, member of the Gilded Guard.
