Duncan had never asked to be a king, pirate or otherwise.

Having spent lifetime over lifetime holding up the ideals of those depending on his strength Duncan returned to his frigid homeland. His soul finally resting as he let himself fall to sleep deep in a snowbank near his precious ship, run aground to prove his own dedication to this. To who? He had no idea.

It was years later, Exactly how many no one could tell. The sounds of battle and the rich stench of fear hanging in the air.

A lost prince praying to their Icy God, Duncan rose from his slumber and drew his sword again.

Once the battle stilled and the Pirate King stood victorious again, he set himself to learning about his new companion. Vale was endlessly thankful for his aid, claiming the man a gift from the gods themselves.
