History

Arseni stretched, arching his back and spreading his feathered wings wide to get the blood flowing. How long had he been crouched over the worn scroll stretched wide on the stone tablet before him? Arseni couldn't say for certain. Time seemed nothing more than a mere illusion, a fickle being that stopped and started as it pleased, whenever he delved into the mysterious intricasies of his work. However long it had been, Arseni had been frozen in the same position for so long that his body had gone numb, all feeling lost. A great yawn escaped his jaws as he stretched for a second time.

"I should sleep." His voice echoed back to him from the dark corners, sending the smallest of vibrations through his crystalline body. Sleep was something Arseni dearly yearned for, but there was too much to be done. Taking the time to rest could not yet be justified.

Shaking off his exhaustion, Arseni adjusted his wings so that his feathers lay smooth and flat against each other and turned back to the scroll. He had poured over it so many times and yet he still could not make sense of how how the tinker that had written it had made this particular invention work. Arseni cast a frustrated glance towards an unfinished prototype he had been practicing building with the scroll's guidance. It almost felt as if the author had left out a very important bit of information. Or perhaps the scroll had been tampered with at somepoint after its creation?

Arseni hissed and reached out one paw to gently grasp, one by one, the stones he had placed on each corner of the scroll to keep the warped paper lying flat atop the stone slab. Once the parchment had been freed, he gingerly rolled it up and slid it back into the leather case he kept it in.

"It makes no sense," he muttered to himself.

With the scroll safely stored, Arseni turned his attention back to the prototype . His claws clicked and clacked softly against the stone floor as he drummed to the private tune of his own thoughts. Whatever the ancient tinker's invention was supposed to be, Arseni was going to find out. Stifling another yawn, he sat down before his project, silently brooding, and committed himself to another sleepless night.

Personality

Arseni is a reclusive dragon, preferring to spend his time alone in his workshop than out in the sun with the rest of his clan. Most of his time is spent pouring over old scrolls and blueprints in an attempt to further is own mechanical prowess. Occasionally, he will make a personal note of something for later by painting it onto his body, giving him a strange look. No matter how many dead ends he runs into, Arseni continues to delve into the mysteries of his passion. From time to time, others will come to him seeking his assistance.

Usually they are simple requests such as fixing a broken prosthetic or installing a new piece in a tool, but every once in a blue moon someone will come to him with a more... interesting request. Regardless of the work, Arseni doesn't ask questions unless it will help him do the job asked of him. Over the years, he has learned that dragons will often tell you far more in their body language rather than verbal speech if you simply know what to look for. Loathe to give up the secrets of his own work and knowledge, he understands the desire some dragons may feel to keep their business their own.
