The Flame Thief's Tale

The book is enrobed in a black leather cover with gilded golden pages. It has darkened steel bindings and is painted with flickers of gold that resemble flames. The leather is warm to the touch, but the bindings are scalding and the book singes any surface it is set upon with a blackened ash.

It is said to tell the tale of Prometheus and the first fire. Yet the tale is somehow twisted, for the stolen fire brings neither light nor warmth. . . only a burning and hungry desolation. It is said that those who read this tale can hear a voice in the flames and become mesmerized by fires, obsessively setting them.
