Tundra Badly Summarizes the Cells of the Immune System Part 8: B Cells

B Cells are adaptive immune cells. They are factories for some of the most potent weapons your immune system has to offer: Antibodies. Antibodies are essentially B cell receptors, fine-tuned to a specific antigen. Antibodies seek out and maim the enemy they were made for, and make it easier for phagocytes to consume them.

Just like T cells, B cells have to undergo training so they hopefully don't attack you -- only they do their training directly in the bone marrow. Once B cells are mature, they move to the lymph nodes. There, they bathe themselves in the fluid coming through the lymph vessels. If they detect their antigen, they activate, sort of, and begin producing mid-rate antibodies. But to really activate, they need a helper T cell to come along and stimulate them. When this happens, their bodies swell and they turn into their final form: Plasma Cells. Plasma cells churn out thousands of extra-powerful antibodies every second, making them deadly and potent weapons against your enemies.
