Biography
~~
When anyone thinks of breeding grounds for greed, Plague clans are not the first thing to come to mind. Most of his court would journey to where the grass grows green, where there a plenty of farms for the taking.
But Laurel was different, was wiser. He knew how easy it would be to become powerful within the Scarred Wastelands. He ventured to a city surrounded by walls, Opovder. (Walls. How foolish, to think that something material could keep out the influence of things much greater than them.) The fae grew vines along every surface he could find, and harvested his crops all while he was called a fool from every direction.
And when the work had been finished, when he was surrounded by food that would overwhelm even the largest Imperial? They came, like moths to a flame. Soon they were pleading, offering everything they and the others around them had. It certainly wasn't like they couldn't go out and get enough for themselves, it was simply that they saw that someone else had what they didn't.
And it is them that will call us greedy, when they would lead their material lives to the slaughter all to get something they don't need? Laural thought, as he accepted the fools' deals, his wealth and power increasing tenfold.
Truly pathetic.
