When the world falls to slumber, and the earthen souls run dry, gaze upon the stars and know you no longer have a place in the heavenly kingdom.

Those were final words of the Archangel juror before Samael was cast from the godly realm, permitted only to rest and regain her strength when needed. It was a crime, she thought, and a heinous one at that - each Archangel had a purpose, and while hers was gruesome, it was no less a necessity. And yet, standing upon the precipice of dismissal, her chest was hot with anger. How could her brethren threaten to excise her from their ranks? Who then would perform the task of ferrying souls to the other world? Surely they too would find themselves at risk of exile sooner or later.

Yet, Samael knew her case was a unique one.
