Earth's Pontifex during the very very early Troubled Age. quietspoken poet

He was the leader of the Earth Flight during the beginning of the Troubled Age, a period of time in which Earth was becoming more isolationist due to fears of their native culture being eroded as they had become the trading capital of the world, so it was very diverse but not very happy about it.
Earth needed a strong leader to guide them through this time of unrest, a leader who could give great speeches to soothe concerns and who could stand up for moral righteousness. Mortimer was not that leader, caring very little for politics, his strength was in philosophy and theology. His passivity is responsible for what came next in Earth . When war loomed, he locked himself away, filled with despair and hopelessness, emerging rarely to talk of peace, but only when it was too late
