When they were just hatchlings, Everlane and Lemonleaf were friends. Their flock was big, spanning multiple generations of multiple Fae (and a couple other breeds) families. Eventually, the insects were harder to locate, and even when they did find them, they were few in number.

So, after a lengthy discussion, the clan packed up and began to migrate. During this, Everlane got swept away in a heavy rainstorm. She was okay; she ended up in the town where she would eventually find her love for sailing.

She made new friends there, and formed a crew. This ended in tragedy, however, with her being the sole survivor when a sea monster attacked and destroyed the ship. She was left with nothing but a few planks of wood, and later, washed up on the shore, the pearl of her friend Rhe.

Devastated but not wanting anyone else to get hurt, she trained for a couple years and sailed with other ships before getting her own boat and sailing out to where the beast had shown itself before.

Despite everything, fate was not on her side.


And a few weeks after it all, Everlane appeared at the Cereus Clan's door.
