There are things leftover from the Shade, things that managed to hide away from the dutiful Gaolers that sought to guard and protect. Most lay dormant. Waiting. But some have carved names for themselves. Some hide in plain sight, becoming childhood boogeymen.

The watcher isn't like others of its kind. It isn't dormant, but it doesn't seem to be interested in making direct contact with dragons either.

However, it seems to act as a sort of warning sign. An ill-omen warning of other, more dangerous shade beings arrivals. It seems to start with odd dreams; the affected will see the sky open into an uncountable number of eyes. After a week or so of these reoccurring dreams, signs of other Shade Beings will start to become more common in the general area. Green lights at night, an unnaturally high amount of crows, ghostly figures of animals. These omens will get progressively worse and worse until one of the Beings takes up residence somewhere close by.

There are rumors, amongst those who know enough about these creatures to know their true nature, that you can see the Watcher on the full moon before the dreams start. No one has been able to answer as to what happens if you see the watcher's physical form.
