The Vanguard REPORT FROM SCOUTING COMPANY, #1524, 45563/233/8 Two new Abominations were identified close to the wall. Scouts described them as two-headed dragons, though unlike any recognized species, and appeared to be made partially of some sort of slime. One scout specifically noted that they resembled "a clay statue that was more wet in some places than others." The going theory is that they are, at least partially, composed of bog muck. I want to assemble a squad to track down one of these creatures and properly describe it, perhaps even retrieve a sample - can you spare any sentries for this within the week? I have already put in a request for a specialist mage, but from the scout's initial description, I think we ought to be as safe as possible. I still have concerns about individuals sneaking into the bog at night. Scouts continue to find signs of activity that indicate at least one individual, possibly many, are moving in and out of the Witherlands with impunity. I have already doubled the patrols for the next two weeks - I suggest you increase the watch as well. We had a casualty two nights ago. Somehow, Limbo got separated from her scout team and was attacked by a Ravener. Her body was recovered and delivered to Saint for preparation and burial. As cut-and-dry as the matter may seem, however, I have ordered a full investigation into the circumstances of her death, including autopsy. I knew Limbo, sir, and she was a very capable soldier; she knew better than to go out on her own, and even then, she was more than skilled enough to fend off a single Ravener. Suffice to say, the circumstances trouble me, and I mean to get to the bottom of things. With all due respect, Watch-Captain, I believe there's something we're not being told. Every report I've looked over for the past month indicates a clear trend; the Witherlands are getting worse. Two Abominations appearing within a month is unheard of; one of my scouts being killed by a single Ravener is unheard of; one, possibly more infiltrators in the bog is unheard of. We haven't had a mage down here in months, and no one here has the equipment or knowledge to properly monitor arcanosphere fluctuations or necrotic energy imbalance. Strictly speaking, I don't have the authority to talk to the Seven myself, but you do. If there is something we should know that could save the lives of our scouts and sentries, we need to know it.
