Biography

Name: Bailey
Kind/Loyal/Friendly

Quote: I'm a simple girl, really.

Position: Warrior

Personality: a genuinely kind and happy dragoness with a big heart and a willingness to help those around her, Bailey is an intelligent dragoness with a innocence about her that makes her a popular choice to talk to. she often sympathizes with those around her although her sympathies can fall away with ease if she is given a reason, although she is a patient dragoness and sees the best in others she is far from stupid and knows many dragons may not be as they appear.
Bailey is a friendly dragoness and loves meeting new dragons, occasionally gossiping usually in order to find information or hear a good story from those in a town she is new too or catching up on what her clan believes to be the latest news.

Quirks: Innocent, scars

Background: Bailey grew up the daughter of a bookshop owner, she could bind books and knew how to read and write with ease and enjoyed working in her father's shop. she saved up what treasure she earned working in the book shop and spent time with the other adolescents her age when she had free time to do so. Bailey was very close with her father and two brothers, although the three males were spirals and looked nothing like her, she never put much thought into the reasoning and excused it by thinking she took after her mother, her mother had passed before she had hatched and so Bailey had not met the older dragoness. Bailey took up training with the clan guard in hopes of learning a bit of skills useful outside of shops and the den, becoming talented with the sword and shield as well as some other weapons as she learned.
she had more than a few suitors as she grew closer to her friends and eventually accepted one male, Thistle, and allowed him to court her, he brought her expensive trinkets even as she pled for him to save his coin for better things. Bailey grew frustrated over his insistence that she "needed" expensive and fancy jewels and dresses and grew upset when she did not wear them every day, she felt such things were not "every day wear" and tried to express this to him many times only to be ignored. she felt her frustration double when her friends began acting rebellious, she would get tired of their complaining and wander off to clear her head often ending up back at the book store.

It was one of these times when she had wandered back to the book store and took up a shift so her brothers could help with repairs to a building and her father could go shopping. she was relaxed as time passed and she cleaned and tended the shelves, righting books and clearing dust while humming softly, it was when she had made her way up tp the front of the store that a scream broke her peace and jarred her from her focus. she hurried to the shop entrance and looked out just in time to see one of the clan, an older drake with a fondness for sharing stories over a warm drink fall in a heap as beast clan stampeded past her.
She froze, suddenly feeling a claw grip her shoulder as Thistle walked toward her smiling manically, her father scowled and pulled her behind him. the next was a blur of blood and scales as Thistle cut her father down and her claws found his sword as tears filled her eyes, she would hardly remember killing Thistle only seeing her brothers laying in pools of red as she left the shop. she fought without thought, letting muscle memory from her training take over as her mind simply shut down, she moved, but wasn't aware of where she was going nor could she have recalled anything of most of the fighting she did, her only thought was to run- there was nothing in the clan for her anymore.

She ran into the woods which had been her comfort and continued until she ran into something solid, strong claws on her shoulders made her look up in confusion. the drake looked at her with concerned green eyes and she realized she was bleeding from more than a few wounds, one of which was dripping blood down her face and over her eye. she legs trembled as she looked at him, fear made her close her eyes as she looked in the direction she had come from before he looked back at her and gently urged her toward a small hut.
He sat her down outside and disappeared briefly before coming back with bandages and salve for her wounds. she sat silently trembling and watching smoke billow from the only home she had ever known, fresh tears ran down her cheeks as she realized her family and home were gone, everything she had known was very likely gone because of Thistle. the drake touched her cheek and gently wiped her tears before looking at the billowing smoke again and offering her something clean to wear.

"You're from the village?" he asked softly.
She nodded silently.
"Come inside, Princess, come rest." he pled gently.
"I-i'm not a princess, just a simple shop keep's daughter." Bailey protested.
"Well then, My Lady Shop Keep, come rest. dawn will bring it's own decisions." he said offering her a hand.
She accepted his hand and got to her feet, following him to his home where he settled her at the table and went to cooking. Bailey watched him as the events of the day finally caught up to her and she suddenly felt exhausted as she started shaking; dinner was more or less silent as they ate, the male surprised her when he shooed her away to his guest room after their meal was finished.

Waking in an unfamiliar bed was a shock to her as the unfamiliar room come into focus Bailey looked around confused until her memory caught up with her and a wave of grief hit her. she sat up and allowed herself to cry silently for several minuets until she calmed and was able to get dressed in the dress that was set out for her. once dressed and in some semblance of calm she made her way to the main room and saw the male attempting to cook and managing to set his cauldron on fire.

"Would- would you like me to cook?" Bailey asked.
"You cook?" the male asked.
"A bit." she confirmed.
"Yes please." he agreed readily.

Making a stew of sweet insects with herbs, root vegetables, and some spices she was happy to get lost in what she was doing until the stew was finished and bowled up, she set the bowls on the table and set about cleaning a bit of her mess up so there would be less to worry after once they were done.

"What's your name?" the drake asked.
"Bailey, and you are?" she countered.
"Mordan." he smiled "And a pleasure to meet you, Bailey."
"Nice to meet you as well."

Bailey stayed with Mordan, forming a friendship with him that strengthened each day as they lived together in the small hut. it was a tight fit for both of them, but since Bailey had nothing to bring with her it worked in a cozy way as she grew accustomed to her new life. there was a town not far from the hut that Mordan had warned her not to go to or if she did not to mention where she lives because the town disliked him greatly.
She was surprised when Mordan took her shopping for new cloths several miles away, it took them half a day to get to the town and Mordan bought her anything she found that she liked. buying her new armor and a few weapons as well as normal clothing that she could wear on a daily basis, by the time they began heading back to the hut Bailey had more than enough to last her.

Getting to the clearing the hut was in they found it in flames, Bailey stared in shock as the Hut collapsed still burning yet starting to die down as the flames began going down. Mordan frowned and gently tugged Bailey away from the burning pile, Bailey allowed him to move her as it seemed to put Mordan at ease to protect her even a little. soon they were walking away and to one of the closer clans where they could gather supplies before they started travelling with no destination in mind and no real plan, they had little choice since it was likely the clan would come after them should they learn they had survived.
It didn't take long to take up adventuring, the pay was good and with no real constant home they couldn't really be chased out or trapped. Bailey was happy enough to accept jobs and get the treasure and gems for whatever they did, splitting the pay equally between them; it wasn't long before she was approached by a drake in holy armor. he claimed to be a paladin of the Lightweaver and in need of her assistance, Bailey found him to be a blow hard yowling about his mission and duty, Mordan saved her from forming a polite response with one question: "What's the pay?"

Bailey laughed at the drake's reaction, outrage, he was upset they weren't willing to jump to his command and sputtered. Bailey placed a clawed hand on Mordan's arm and they began to discuss traveling with him for appropriate pay. soon they were traveling with him, Tantris, and they learned the error of their ways, Tantris took every opportunity to berate and lecture them- Mordan in particular which set Bailey's scales on edge and sent her behaving in a way her father would have disapproved of in every way.
They spent a great deal of time when they stayed in towns alone and had Tantris speculating what they had been doing spending so much time together, to which Bailey assured him it was none of his concern. she found his distress amusing as they shopped and chatted late into the night in the privacy of their shared room with little care, they had lived in closer quarters without issue before and didn't let the accusations of one ruffle any scales.

Bailey went with Mordan to his mother's court as a guest, wearing finery she felt uncomfortable in and once there felt horribly out of place amid all the elegantly dressed dragoness and under the other pearlcatcher's scrutiny. her lack of a pearl was obvious as she carried no bag big enough to hold one nor did she have an answer to where she had hidden it and after several confused conversation she heard the whispers from her lover's family. Bailey stood proudly defiant to their accusations and lifted her muzzle in false arrogance all the while hoping Mordan would return to her soon and rescue her from the hostile company.
Whispers of trapped pearls interested her yet she, as an outsider, could get no real information on this aside from a hoard of lost princes and princesses and the rumors of what they would look like. Bailey listened quietly, pretending indifference and thinking to find more information later in the taverns likely enough as the dragons of the clans loved gossip and lost royalty was ripe bait.

After several hours she found a drake who was said to be the son of one of Mordan's half brothers and one of these lost princesses, Aster was willing to talk about his mother and her kingdom. he spoke of a Queen blind in love and a King mad in ambition and that Queen's attempt to get her children to safety at risk to herself and how much she would look like them with different markings. Bailey although interested in the tale did not think the stories held any truth, she knew her father and brothers after all and none of them had been royalty.
Mordan encouraged her to explore the Trapped Pearl stories, his mother told him enough of her lover that even he was interested in how far reaching they had become. while searching for these stories and the answers she would find she spoke with dragons who had known her father and they finally admitted she had been adopted. Bailey was surprised by this news and found herself wondering for the first time in her life who her parents really had been.

It was while they were traveling that Bailey found herself out shopping and having more than a bit of fun being out on her own, she had plans to make dinner for herself and Mordan. as she was wandering through the market a drake bumped into her and she felt a sharp poke before they were gone and she dusted herself off and continued for a short time. soon her head started feeling foggy and she found she could hardly stand, suddenly two drakes appeared on either side of her and supported her between them joking as if she were a drunk friend.
She found herself in a room, tied and gagged, with everything, but the bare minimum covering her scales, a thin dress pooled around her tail and keeping her decent. she fought and struggled as best she could in hopes of getting loose and running, but her attempts only lead to beatings and threats from her captors which did little to dull her fighting.

Bailey lost tract of time, but knew she had been 'missing' for several days, she had finally stopped fighting and spent most of the last day sleeping and was well on her way to doing the same that day. she heard a scuffle and looked up although she was in a locked room, tied up, she began testing the ropes again in hopes she could get free.
The door was throw off it's hinges with a small, but powerful explosion and Mordan stalked in, bloodied and bruised. he cut her bindings and free her muzzle before she was being carried away trailing protests of being able to walk herself that were promptly ignored. it wasn't long before Mordan was courting her with small gifts and they found a clan to stay in fairly quickly, they joined the warriors, but still took jobs outside of the clan.
