Biography

The sun was completing it’s descent from the sky on a chilly evening; creatures of the night began to leave their shadowy homes to lurk through the darkness, their chilling wails reverberating throughout the open land. Twigs or rather bones snapped under the weight of ghostly beings, echoing through the darkness of the Abiding Boneyard. The air stunk of rancid meat and rotting flesh, bringing tears to the eyes of all who dared trespass.

A small dragon venturing through the eerie environment stumbled over a liquifying puddle of what looked like an oozing Fae corpse before falling onto the ground, a scream of horror filling the air. The dragon quickly rose back to his feet and gathered his belongings, desperately trying to wipe away the green-brown muck from himself.

The panicked creature’s head swiveled around in an attempt to locate the source of the terrifying bellows and whines, but they seemed to come from everywhere all at once. A voice suddenly spoke from within the darkness, the tone low and ghoulish, yet much more clear than the surrounding chaotic buzz of ominous howls.

“Where do you think you’re headed so quickly, little one?”

The small dragon froze with fear, clutching his belongings closer to his chest. Dread began to quickly spread throughout both mind and body. He tried to form words, but remained paralyzed with apprehension. Bones crunched underneath something large before falling silent as if the creature was no longer moving on the ground, but had rather taken off into the air. The frightening voice let out a sinister cackle before speaking again, the sound seeming to circle around the horror-stricken dragon.

“You seem lost. That little Fae you rudely stepped on was lost at one point too, y’know.”

The dragon inhaled deeply, forcing words out. His voice shook with fear, his talons digging deeper into the items he held clenched against himself. He tried to sound confident, but his tone failed to come across as anything other than terrified.

“W-Who’s there? Show yourself!”

The mysterious creature chuckled again, the voice emanating once more from the darkness.

“Be careful what you wish for, little one.”

The background screeches seemed to fall silent as the cryptic creature twisted down in front of the shaking dragon from the darkened night sky above, revealing itself to be a gnarled Spiral.

An iron mask and brimmed hat concealed the entirety of it’s face and a wickedly sharp spiked chest plate was adorned around it’s slender abdomen. It’s scales were faded in vast areas, extensive scars stretching down and covering a broad majority of its body. Large growths slumped off the sides of the ever-twisting dragon, puss oozing down from them and crusting around the edges. The older excrescences looked as though they had sloughed off, only to reveal another beneath it.

The other dragon grimaced in response to the Spiral’s appearance, visually repulsed. His curiosity was piqued, yet horror was still in control.

The Spiral peered down at the smaller dragon from behind a pair of rose-colored glasses, slowly swirling around in circles above him. The twisting dragon spoke, it’s tone remaining clear, yet eerie.

“The name is Eldrot. I do not care to know yours. I do care to know why you’re aimlessly stomping through my backyard, though.”

The frightened dragon took a step backward, it’s paw landing in a gushy pile of something cold and wet, a deafened crunch of something snapping reverberating from within the mush.
Eldrot sighed deeply before speaking again, his tone bleeding with sarcasm and mockery.

“And that was my dearest beloved. May the Gods rest her soul.”

The Spiral chuckled at his own joke as he twirled around the other dragon. The other creature still shook with fear, glancing down at his foot as the sludge began to seep down in between his toes. The sight of the decomposing corpse made the dragon sick to his stomach, forcing himself to keep it’s contents held inside. A sly smile spread across Eldrot’s features as he knew the other dragon would be unable to see it.

“Y’know, your skull would make a nice addition to my home. You even look healthy enough to feed to my Widow.”

The startled dragon let out a cry for help, finally overcoming his temporary paralysis. His wide eyes searched desperately for an exit, but darkness enveloped everything in sight. Still tightly clutching his belongings, he shot off into the night. Eldrot’s howling cackle echoed through the chilly air, other creatures of the shadows joining in with loud shrieks and growls.

The trembling dragon scrambled through the Boneyard, shattering old carcasses and spraying rotting flesh up onto himself. He heard a voice shout behind him, the familiar tone belonging to the Spiral, who he had the displeasure of recently meeting.

“Wrong way, little one! You wouldn’t want to end up looking like me, would you?”

The small dragon, for whatever reason, believed Eldrot. He made a sharp left, still sprinting through the impenetrable darkness. Eldrot snickered in disbelief, as the little dragon was now headed towards the Wyrmwound. He would find that out himself though, soon enough.

Eldrot twisted up into the night sky, staring down at the Boneyard through his rose glasses for his next victim to play with. A shriek suddenly cut through the air, piercing it’s way into the dragon’s ears. He began descending, honing in on the source of the scream. Much to his delight, a dragon had stumbled upon the decaying corpse of another. His howling laughter rang throughout the air before collecting himself and speaking down to the dragon below.

“Are you lost, darling?”
