Willful, persistent, discomfiting

Rowan resembles an inky blob with his piercing eyes as his only distinct feature. This sinister-looking little Nocturne is an expert about guilt, and strangely, he uses it to help others. Rowan is keenly aware of the many types of guilt dragons experience, and he's a proponent of using this emotion in a healthy way. When used carefully, guilt can be a genuinely useful tool to goad a dragon towards constructive change, resolving ongoing problems or informing future choices for better outcomes. At the same time, he knows that guilt can evolve into its own disease and accomplish the exact opposite, paralyzing its victim and encouraging them to destroy themselves. He wants to avoid this outcome at all costs.

Rowan is remarkably perceptive of the emotions of his clanmates. He can practically see guilt, and when he identifies a candidate, he discreetly pulls them aside and offers his services. If a dragon agrees to give him information and context to work with, he pairs the Nocturne ability for mimicry with his immense empathy, copying their mindset to unearth the source of their anguish. His clients are taught which factors are beyond their control and which factors are within their control, then asked what they can reasonably do about the latter.

His lessons are given with compassion, but guilt is still a painful teacher. Many dragons balk at exploring sensitive memories or taking actions that provoke anxiety, even if it's the only way for them to improve. These dragons that accept his involvement but can't or won't cooperate with his instructions tend to sink further into negativity. Rowan hates being denied and refuses to accept this outcome. When pushed to this point, he'll pitch a fit and launch a drastic intervention in an attempt to wrench them out of that state. He cannot stand watching others drown in self-loathing and will do anything to spare them from this outcome. Anything.
