Never did Sonata thing her life would change so drastically. She'd thought that her quiet and simple life of raising hatchlings and spending the occasional evening with her mate when he wasn't busy was all that she wanted; all that she needed.

That was before Barbossa appeared.

--Barbossa shows up as like, yound adult (est. 19 human years?) and is just immediately smitten with Sonata in that "wow she's pretty I'm gonna go talk to her" way. He struts up to her expecting her to be super impressed by his smooth moves and pickup lines, but she's having none of it. She and Rhyolitic (her mate at the time) were having troubles with their relationship. He just wanted to work and she just wanted to spend more than a few hours with him a couple days a week and it was straining them. So she's really frustrated and upset by the situation with her mate and flat-out rejects Barbossa. STUFF ok

It couldn't be. He'd died. He-

Sonata trembled, remembering.

She'd watched the old captain fall into the tumultuous sea. He was supposed to be gone.

But he stood before her, bringing back a flood of dark memories that she'd thought she'd safely locked away for good.

OLD LORE

Sonata is incredibly kind and nurturing. She and Rhyolitic were brought into the clan around the same time as hatchlings and raised mainly by Laraquae and Formos. She and Rhyolitic took to each other very quickly, being nigh inseparable when they were young, despite their differences in personalities. She can speak a little of the Coatl dialect of draconic from her father, but is learning more from Sequoia. During the day, Sonata helps raise and watch new hatchlings as they grow up and their parents do their work for the clan. Her and Formos both have great amounts of patience, second only to Demetria. She also knows a small amount of restorative magic and young hatchlings often go to her with minor cuts and scrapes- especially after flight training.

. Leopard Sharks

Leopard Shark dragons, despite their large size and predatory appearance, are primarily docile. They prefer basking in shallow, warm waters to hunting or terrorizing swimmers. Most are flighty and wary, but once the trust of a Leopard Shark is gained, they’re playful and gladly accept dragons into their school. They love darting through the waves, and are usually quite agile-- for their size.

The most stunning (and most obvious) trait is their beautiful golden patterning. It was developed from a bashful group of Water dragons, who were seeking out solitude in one of the most desirable spots in the Water territory. Over time, they accepted those who could blend into the sand, and kicked out those who drew too much attention to their school. They are one of the more beautiful subspecies to live in warm waters, notoriously hard to find. They take great pride in their looks, preferring to breed with another Leopard Shark over a dragon with different patterning. All these factors combined lead to a secluded but peaceful group of dragons, who just want to sit in the sun and nap in the waves.
