When Ice and Shadow meet in the land of Lightning, something electric happens: a blast of hottest summer appears in the guise of an active and curious coatl. Basil toppled, flopped, bumbled, borrowed, and otherwise relied on the charm of his big blue eyes and flashy feathers to survive on his way to the Cloudsong, where he now finds himself.

Much admired for his good looks, the attention might have gone to another coatl's head, but Basil is blessed with a humble, good-humored temperament. That said, behind Basil's bright, handsome smile is the single-minded determination to not just survive, but thrive. He has sworn he will never fear destiny again the way he did when he was young and says he will stop at nothing to secure his own comfort, but it's hard to believe that he'll ever really cross a line, when anything he likes is his simply for the asking.
