YanMu

(Just want to say real quick that this is more the outline of the story, but I decided to post it anyways because it will probably never be finished. So now y'all know how I plan stories and why they never get finished)

YanMu and BingGao slowly grow closer.

YanMu likes to 'test' the tundra, as she wants to see what she will do for her. YanMu doesn’t really understand why BingGao is so lovely. She always feels safe and warm when the tundra is there, and she wants BingGao to stay with her forever. She cannot help but think that BingGao is so sweet because she is the one who found her and helped her find her way.

YanMu still feels like an outsider even though the clan trusts her--but BingGao has always felt like home.

Maybe BingGao just sees her as a rescue, or as a younger sibling, or as someone who needs protecting. Maybe she just thinks YanMu is her responsibility.

YanMu asks her things, and makes her go with her different places. BingGao never hesitates (BingGao doesn’t like to fish, or to swim, but when YanMu asks her to go with her, she doesn’t even complain!).


Then one day, BingGao and YanMu are enjoying a campfire. The other dragons have already retired to their beds, but YanMu really loves it there outside. When BingGao is with her, she will always love it. She tries to savour the moment, but she is very tired.

YanMu gathers the courage to tell her how she got the charm on her hip.

“I was in the forest,” she says, “I had been there for months by then, and the trees, the sounds, the monsters—everything scared me to death. But then I came across a clearing, and I suddenly felt all this love and I felt safe. I stayed there, and then the grounds cracked and this enormous, beautiful dragon crawled out. I knew immediately who she was. It was the Plaguebringer herself.”

BingGao nods, humming softly, and even though a lot of dragons have scoffed at this story, YanMu knows that BingGao believes her. So YanMu goes on, “She told me I wasn’t lost. She said it might take some time, but that I would find my place. She gave me this charm.”

YanMu moves, to show BingGao the mark on her hip. Then she yawns, as she is very tired, and she lays down, her head resting on BingGao’s soft shoulder, and she is mumbles a bit; “The Plaguebringer also told me I would recognise my true mate by this, but I’m not so sure what she meant by that.”

She is so very tired, and she can barely feel BingGao scratching her head as she falls asleep.


When YanMu wakes, BingGao is gone, and the sun is shining in her face. She yawns and gets up, stretching, and she figures BingGao probably went to fetch some food. She goes to find her, but while there are some dragons sorting plants, BingGao isn’t there, and they haven’t seen her.

YanMu gets a bit anxious, and she goes to the orchard, where BingGao loves to be, but she isn’t there either. None of the dragons there know where she is. YanMu starts to gets scared and she just asks everyone, but no one has seen her.

YanMu begs; “She cannot just have disappeared?”

A snapper comes to her and he tries to calm her down, but YanMu cannot because BingGao is gone, and she falls back into this wild, scared state that BingGao has once pulled her out of, almost lashing out at the poor snapper. YanMu is absolutely horrified by herself, and she shies away, sobbing apologies.

The other dragons try to calm her down by promising her that BingGao will never leave her behind and that she will be back. YanMu doesn't believe them. She barely even hears them, as she tries to suppress that feral rage that is inside of her. She is so scared she will hurt any of them.

She digs herself in a shallow pit, only to release some of that fear.


When BingGao isn’t there yet the day after (she’s been gone now for three days), YanMu runs away, trying to hide herself from the rest of the clan because she feels she is losing control.

She hides in a cave, unable to sleep as the night comes, and she feels horrible because she cannot keep herself together when BingGao isn’t there. She should be able to survive without her, right?

The next morning, YanMu is just lying on the ground of the cave, not knowing what to do, to tired, to empty to do something—and then a voice is calling her name. YanMu shoots up and sprints out of the cave--and there she is, that beautiful, bronze fur waving in the wind.

When YanMu sees her she calms down immediately, even though BingGao’s eyes widen a bit when she beholds her so lost. BingGao touches her face, and YanMu strokes her fur, needing to feel she’s real.
BingGao smiles, and she turns, showing her her hip. YanMu cannot believe it.

BingGao has got the Plague’s charm.

YanMu stares at it, unable to say anything. BingGao says, “I went to the place we met, sweet YanMu. I asked the for the Plaguebringer, but nothing happened. And then I—”

BingGao stops for a moment, but YanMu is listening intensely, and BingGao scratches YanMu’s head as she continues; “I called out: ‘I come to claim my charm.’ And then I felt this very warm and loving feeling all around, and when it passed, I looked at my hip, and there it was.”

YanMu looks her in the eyes, and she rasps; “You claimed a charm?”

BingGao brushes her soft nose against YanMu’s cheeks, and she whispers in her ear; “I claimed you.”

YanMu blushes vividly, and BingGao pulls away to look at her. She asks; “YanMu, do you want to be my girlfriend?”

YanMu cannot help but smile; “More than anything.”
