Biography

VIRGIL CLAN LEADER HE/HIM OR SHE/HER

From a very young age, Virgil was raised on tales of how the Arcane Flight was home to Sornieth's finest scholars. His parents- members of a wealthy, respected family living near the Observatory- told him they were simply the most innovative, the most dedicated to their work, the most objective...

It didn't take long for tiny Virgil to decide that this was the path she wanted for her life. For years, she devoted herself to the path of the respected, beloved scholar...and eventually, it paid off. Virgil was given a position in the Tourmaline Archives. To say she was overjoyed would be an understatement...

But now he's stuck having stumbled into a leadership position in some backwater clan in the middle of the Starwood Strand, far from the Archives and the family who had long encouraged him.

The truth is, Virgil made a mistake. Some sort of blunder that resulted in a big enough mess that she was immediately and unceremoniously kicked out of the Archives. But...there was no way she could ever show her face again if she told her family that. So instead of going home, she fled the other way, not really sure what to do next.

It was there, in the middle of his panicked "what am I going to do now" wanderings, that Virgil discovered the (rather dilapidated, unfortunately, if you asked him) structure that he has ended up making home. Tired and trying to find a sheltered spot to rest in, he wandered in...and came face to face with the handful of other Bogsneaks who'd already also decided it looked like a nice enough place to hide.

Even more panicked now, Virgil tried to think quick and gave a lie about some sort of important project she'd received that justified her sudden appearance. Something about studying the Strand and the Crystal Pools around it more thoroughly, for some research being done in the Tourmaline Archives. It seemed to work- beyond a few grumbles about how she just better not be a bother, the other Bogsneaks accepted her without much questioning.

Virgil also quickly learned that he was by far the most willing of the dragons to communicate with neighboring clans about serious matters, and took on the role of talking to them when necessary. It was this trait that propelled him the position of leadership he remains in now, starting with the assumptions of outsiders until eventually it was just his accepted role.

Virgil's glad everything's worked out alright so far...but she also can't help but worry that it'll all backfire one day. She's convinced someone will figure out the truth and then the whole clan will turn on her. Either that, or her family will grow worried by her absence and try to find her, and then they'll all learn the truth- that she's no longer in the Archives, that she messed it all up for herself, that she's now stuck in charge of a messy tiny clan in some dusty ruins.

For now, though, he's just trying to keep doing the best job he can- and keeping his secrets as hidden as possible, too.
