" ..." Unlike other Guardians, Glenn’s charge is not tangible. Instead of a sacred grove, glittering treasure, or special someone, Glenn guards secrets. Embarrassing pasts. The crush of one of his clanmate’s. An exalted dragon’s regrets. Who is mother’s favorite. A cult’s special code. It does not matter how scandalous or small a secret is, he happily collects them all. This has drawn immense scorn from other Guardians who see Glenn’s charge as illegitimate. Secrets are not an obvious charge unlike a physical one they claim, and are thus “too easy” to protect. Leviathan, one of the clan’s resident Guardians, has tried many times to get Glenn to write his secrets down so that he may have something physical to guard; he refuses, claiming that his wards are secrets and not a sheet of paper. As a result, Glenn is a Guardian outcast, though this bothers him little. He strongly dislikes Guardian culture, being highly critical of it, and often prefers to mingle with other dragons as he believes they are far less judgmental. Pearlcatchers are his favorite, and he has spent many a coin trying to pry new secrets from their snouts while preventing them from doing the same to him. An unorthodox thinker that prefers to break the mold, Glenn is usually on the periphery of the clan. While amicable to non-Guardians, he is considered untrustworthy by most primarily due to his habit of attempting to obtain more secrets. His tendency to criticize Guardian society unprovoked hasn’t helped him make friends either. That being said, he is genuinely kind at heart and has no malicious intent when he attempts to pry for secrets, though he understands why others may think that. He sympathizes with other dragons who are loners or outcasts, and will not hesitant to take in dragons who have no one else to go to. |
