Mithrax is the Fallen Kell of the House of Light, an Eliksni faction that rejected the call of Darkness and seeks to return to the Light of the Traveler. He's the only Fallen leader to ally themselves with the Guardians in their fight against the forces that besiege the Last City, and he's a powerful Splicer to boot. Mithrax wasn't always a Kell. He got started as a Vandal in the House of Wolves—a house that would eventually be defeated by the Awoken during the Reef Wars. The Dreaming City lore books speak of a Vandal called Misraaks who was captured by the Awoken Sjur Eido, who surprised Misraaks by showing both kindness and mercy despite. It is Eido that gave Misraaks the name Mithrax due to her difficulty pronouncing the Eliksni syllables.

After the Last City comes under attack by the Vex, Ikora Rey reaches out to Mithrax for help. As the last Splicer, Mithrax has the innate ability to manipulate machines and might be the only one who can save humanity from living in perpetual darkness. In return for helping humanity, Ikora pleads with him to let those who died on his Skiff to be the last and offered for him and House Light to come to the Last City. Surprised by the offer, Mithrax questions if Ikora has the authority to make such a deal. The Warlock vows that they would be under the Vanguard's protection and any who questioned that would answer to her. Reassured, Mithrax gladly accepts the offer and eagerly looks forward to settling in the Last City underneath the Traveler.
