______ Ashes. She took the name because her last memories of life was the swirling grey of volcanic ash falling before her eyes, even as her lifeforce leaked out of her.

______ Ashes. She was a lost soul, one of many in that dim grey space between Life and Death. The void was cold and unfeeling, and Ashes feared she would never know peace. Her calls echoed loud and clear, and found the ears of Korvax one day as he wandered the Veil.

______ Her voice was like music to his ears, and Korvax knew this soul was special. Something about her drew him in like no other had before, and he resolved to bring her back to life in a body that befitted the beauty of her soul. He found an egg from the Light flight and bestowed her soul upon it, luminous and pale. From the moment she hatched, Korvax knew their destiny and future lay together.

______ Ashes awoke from the veil to see a strange, pale fae peering at her over a pair of round glasses, his eyes alight with curiosity and interest, and found herself blushing. She always wanted a mate, and a family, and a single glance was enough to tell her she had found both.
