» personality Raidho is an extremely quiet, timid, and subservient dragon, but he counts himself fortunate to enjoy safety and companionship he never thought he could have. On the rare times when he feels comfortable, he relaxes to show a warm, deeply tender heart and endless well of patience and support. Any threat to his community causes his neediness to flare and he is quick to offer any service to help, including the often-unnecessary threat of death. He stays away from everyone, scared he will hurt someone or worse. The crushing anxiety of keeping others safe curses him with poor sleep, twitchiness, and a haggard appearance. His many eyes are ever watchful, taking turns blinking and resting closed so he always has a few on the lookout. It wasn't until Kytha was transformed he trusted anyone to get near him for any length of time. Kalli is the only 'normal' dragon who he lets get close and even then, if he doubts the effectiveness of her current batch of protecting potion, he begs her to stay distant. |

» history "A youngling cursed with being radioactive. Not only that, but he also has the plague." Poor Raidho was born of two wind dragons, ousted from their homeland from the biological destruction they were wreaking simply by their existence. Affronted, the duo Scourge and Scathe retreated to the Plaguelands where they would, at the very least, not be criticized by how much death their living brought. The pair were each of an unusual sequence: both of them exuded and were sustained by radioactive isotopes of the atoms which made up a normal skydancer body. The only one either of them couldn't hurt was the other. Their offspring unfortunately shared their unusual fate; Raidho, as one of the youngest, had the unique discomfort of feeling alone in his suffering yet knowing there were more which preceded him who shared it and understood. Unable to reach any of his far-traveled kin, and knowing his parents had little comfort to give him, the pained young skydancer left his nest prematurely to spare others of his anguish and ennui. He wandered the Contagion, near starving, until he happened upon a small, simple dragon settlement one day. Raidho had been taught since birth he was a death sentence upon others, so he fled when he saw them to keep them from contracting his own excruciating existence. Surprisingly, a couple dragons followed him to ask about his person. He explained in his reedy voice how he was not to be approached for the dragons' own safety, but they still questioned from a distance if he needed help. The pair of cool, glimmering dragons saw through his feeble protests and quickly brought a parcel of food and pot of water back from the settlement. As Raidho watched them retreat and cautiously approached the gifts, he couldn't make sense of the generosity he'd witnessed. And so, Raidho came to join the Laospí clan as its distant yet skilled poison-brewer, many-eyed rear guard and, as needed, gravedigger. Raidho still kept himself at a far distance from the residents of his new home, but a curious, stubbornly friendly pearlcatcher named Kytha persisted until he'd gained Raidho's dear friendship. Kytha's eventual misfortune made him the only dragon who could safely be close to Raidho, but the skycatcher cherished his friend's sacrifice and it bonded them all the more. Soon after, another pearlie named Kalli, a talented young alchemist and healer, joined the clan as well. Sparks flew and Kalli worked tirelessly on various concoctions until she developed resistance in her potion-bottle blood to his radioactive dangers. The pair finally met up close after months and months of messages passed via Kytha and their courting began. Since then, the pair have had one clutch together. Both Raidho and his mate deeply rely on Chena, the mellow healer, and he speaks with her often about how to cure his conditions one day. |
