Nobel has never been a warrior or a metalworker, has never known the heat of battle and of the forge like his beloveds, but they have never seen a magic like his, a beautiful and weighty and breathtaking commune with Nature. He is too dangerous to live in his birth clan. He was the first son of a Nature father and a Plague mother, excommunicated to Ice because of their sheer magical capabilities. A union like theirs was considered dangerous and the resulting children volatile, but Nobel has never wanted anything but peace.

Living in a land where the plants suffocate under thick layers of frost should have been enough to keep his family's abilities unknown, but as a hatchling he had far too little control and far too much power for that to be the case. With heavy hearts, his parents sent him away to live with this clan, known for its dangerous powers and open mind towards refugees. He grew up among the Light, taught to be brilliant and proud of it, to excel at what the Gods granted him. So he did. The Skydancer with no name and the proudly exiled Spiral became his new family, his new lovers, his new home. Because of them, he never has to look back, so he is theirs forever.

He and Gauss work. They don't know why and they don't care. All they know is that the silver on her wings and the flowers on his brow go together and make something like a home. Mica is Gauss' home too but Nobel accepts that just as he accepted the silver collar that matches Gauss and ties him to their whirring Mechanic hearts, he with the eyes like trees and the magic of the ancients. They love each other and it is enough.
A heart to resolve, a head to contrive, and a hand to execute
