Biography

Name: Jack o' the lantern
Playful/Friendly/Mischievous

Quote: Nothin' a bit of creativity can't fix!

Position: Bandit

Personality: Jack is typically a playful individual, always offering a smile or witty remark to any willing to talk to him for any amount of time. he is very friendly and always willing to meet new dragons. yet he can also be cruel and unforgiving when properly angered, leading dragons astray on paths and getting them lost. he often gets lonely and seeks the company of dragons and hatchlings when his queen is not available, he enjoys entertaining hatchlings and dragons.

Quirks: Chaotic, accent

Background: Once long ago he was a Prince in a much smaller faerie kingdom, the kingdom did not gain much in the way of attention from the larger seasonal courts as it came to be after the kings and queens had gone into their long hibernation although the kingdom attempted to remain in the courts good graces. his parents, the king and queen, had been blessed with seven surviving hatchlings which they had arranged to have married off to the surroundings Faerie villages in exchange for trade agreements and allies, Jack was the only one left.
Named Heir, Jack was less than impressive to the court, Jack had always been more interested in the less honorable things and had many close friends within a thieves guild. he learned from these friends when he would sneak away and paid close attention using what he learned in the court to keep himself safe from those who would see him fall. Jack could dance around the topics of the court effectively and pick out who would be a threat to him if he didn't take care in how he spoke.

He lived like this for many years before seeing the threat some of the court and family posed to him and his parents, he tried to warn his parents of his discontent. his parents didn't take his warnings seriously and Jack watched his aunt set her own son, several years his junior, up to take the throne from him. his mother gossiped and spoke freely with her sister, laughing and chatting freely and without care, his aunt smiled and listened, laughing with the queen all the while talking behind her back and gaining supporters for herself and her son.
Soon enough his parents were killed and he was replaced when he escaped his own assassin to run into the new queen and her king. they let him live only to exile him and chase him from his home, he left with nothing, but what he had on him and was given no previsions to help on his travels. Jack chose his path, cheating, stealing, and conning his way to a life of comfort, he had all he needed with food enough to sate his belly and a roof over his head when the weather was poor and warm cloths and blankets when camping.

He lived as a thief for years without much thought finding fame and a reputation as word spread of him, soon enough his fame brought him to the attention of a lesser known branch of faerie- the Pixies. they were playful and mischievous little creatures and took him in readily where he quickly built himself a village and was accepted as their rulers had left them with no leaders. Jack happily accepted the position they offered and grew accustomed to them, their home was more a camp than anything yet it was more welcoming than many of the places he had stayed. he helped them build a more permanent settlement within a field near a clan of dragons and a forest where monsters roamed, the meadow was safe from the beasts of the forest due to the faerie's magic.
He lived with them for years becoming a trickster, he lead dragons astray on paths to shelter or various and unpleasant ends which sometimes ended in death, or other times into piles of mud and other such harmless things. it was while he was wandering and entertaining himself in this way that he met a dragoness from the Autumn court, Joan O' the Wad, she was lovely and had a kindness which was unfamiliar to him. he strode from the bushes and trees, never seeing one of his pixies before he tripped and stumbled and caught himself, Joan seeing the spectacle he presented laughed softly.

Jack began spending time with Joan, she made him promise to behave himself which he agreed to readily if she agreed to stay with him, it was an odd agreement to say the least. the Pixies seemed to love her near as much as they did him and accepted her as one of their own long before he had even considered what his intentions with her would be. Jack would walk Joan to her home nightly, making sure she arrived safely always staying out of sight for fear of being caught knowing such a fate would mean his death.
Jack felt her absence as if missing a limb, feeling a bone deep loneliness that slowly grew into a ache that lasted until she returned to him. he knew his desire for her companionship was selfish, a Lady of the courts should not be subjected to the life of a common bandit nor should she be expected to live in the wilds, moving from camp to camp. after several months he began courting her, expecting to be laughed off and happily surprised when she accepted his attempts to impress her.

He agreed to meet with her to the court on the chance he would be accepted, but he felt unease and fear as he did not want to be arrested or killed. walking in and hearing the chatter stop his blood ran cold when the guards started towards him with weapons drawn, he backs away in an attempt to get away, but drew his own weapon to defend himself. he did not remember the fight only the bite of steel in his scales and the pain it left him with, as well as the horrified look on Joan's face when he was attacked.
He ran when Joan made a fuss, getting away from the guards and back to the thick woods where his friends welcomed him back and ushered him to one of the dens. Zira and Nixie patched him up and forced him to stay put despite his complaints to go back for Joan and his concern for the dragoness who had created a distraction allowing him to escape. Jack complied with his pixie's wishes when Drets and Bubbin left to get Joan, letting himself fall into a light doze until delicate footsteps drew his attention.

Joan came in and fussed over him for a moment before he carefully moved so she could lay next to him and grinned as she blushed. he happily told her not to worry over him, he was tougher than she imagined him, and was ignored by her as she curled up next to him with the promise he would rest and let his injuries heal. Jack was surprised and pleased when Joan agreed to stay with him although he wondered at her giving up her place and titles, he felt a pang of guilt for bringing a Lady down to a Bandit's level with the threat that she may be exiled.
Once healed Jack took Joan out in the meadows and fields she loved to wander at night, finding places to sit and curl up together in peaceful moments. he loved dancing with her when they did their wandering and watching her with the kobolds, talking and laughing with their crude humor, and dancing with the elves, singing their ancient lullabies. he found more and more that he simply loved her, courting her properly and being accepted as her mate, they continued helping lost travelers and entertaining campers with their faerie lights which danced and bobbed.
