The Juggernaut
By Arkonsel
It says a lot about just how much force of personality Titan has that he can control an Emperor. Fester is an ugly amalgamation of dead Imperials, their multiple heads hissing and speaking over each other, instead of in unison. The mind of an Emperor is not a united thing. They do not hunt in cohesion, they do not act as one.
The only urge that drives them is kill, but each head wants to be the one to tear their opponent’s throat open, each claw wants to be the one to reach in and tear out their opponent’s heart. Kill, whispers the first head and kill echoes the second.
Fester is a berserker, only barely kept in check by Titan. On the battlefield, he has to be sent in a different direction from the others, for fear that he will otherwise kill his own clan. Why not, after all? They are not him. They are not Emperor, they are not an Imperial that can be added to the Emperor.
They are meat, and he will destroy them.
He hunts other Imperials obsessively. An Emperor can have 11 heads and he wants to have all of those. He wants to be completed. Any Imperial on the battlefield will immediately be targeted and singled out by Fester.
Unlike most Imperials, he wasn’t made on the battlefield, but after birth. Their mother was killed when his litter of four were still hatchlings, as was the rest of his former clan. Too small to crawl and hunt, too weak to really find their own food, they turned on each other and tore each other to shreds with their tiny hatchling claws and needle-like fangs.
There had been four of them in the nest. By the end of the day, there were none.
By morning, there was one. And that one, was Fester.
