Navigator Who Astral Projected Into Another Dimension, Lost Their Soul, Summoned Ancient God, And Was Driven Out Of Town For Doing Aberrant Magicks Says They're Too Dead Inside Now To Care, But The Ancient God Is Hot
A character from an original story of mine that takes place in a wild west-esque fantasy world. Pernel used to be a magic user called a Navigator who used their powers of astral projection to guide their crew across the salt flats. One day they ventured too far outside their realm and contacted a powerful being imprisoned in the Astral Sea. However, in their attempts to help this presence, their own soul became trapped, leaving Pernel on the mortal plane with a body and a mind, but no soul. Unable to use magic without a soul, Pernel was stranded in the wasteland and escaped only by discovering a strange new form of magic considered dangerous and heretical by those who they encountered. Now considered an outlaw, they wander between towns looking for work, though recently they picked up a strange companion with the ability to create water - a rare resource - from nothing. They know very little about how the world works, which is exemplified by their bizarre claim that they're the "god of the ocean", which is impossible because the ocean is nothing more than a fairytale.
