Biography
Quote:
Uh-oh, looks like this dramatic actress wandered a little too far from her home lair (526853 Stolen), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. If you do not want a dragon in return, you can also send her to the Traveling Dragon Rest Hub. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!

Name meaning:Forming or belonging to a bottom layer or base.
Personality:
Arrogant, and extremely stubborn at times. She doesn't accept any lies or vague answers, and gets annoyed at people who don't appreciate her acting skills.
Lore:
Silence filled the room. Nobody even clapped. The smile slowly faded from her face and she walked offstage, humiliated.
Bassal knew her acting was amazing. It was everybody else who was deluded. She'd entertained this clan long enough. No matter how great she was up on stage, nobody ever understood the fine art form that she fluent in. In fact, once they'd even laughed her off! Well, she decided it would come to an end. If nobody was going to appreciate her acting, she'd leave. See how they liked that. Once she was famous all over Sorneith, they'd come back begging to see one of her shows. Now, all that was left to do was find somewhere that realised how great she was, and it'd all be uphill from there.
What did you say your name was? Bassal? ... No, I don't think we can line you up for a show.
Bassal found herself in the Shifting Expanse, heading for Goldensparc. She knew the golden city would appreciate her talents - the shimmering streets were home to nobility, those with refined tastes, who would surely see her for the elegant star she is. She found herself traveling with a caravan clan, who happened to be heading to Goldensparc this week as well and knew their way around the dangerous terrain. A bard found her side, seemingly impressed with her raw beauty and talent, and she allowed him to fawn over her. They prepared a stage play to perform once they'd reached the city.
However, Bassal found herself unappreciated in the city of gold and power. Her wildclaw friend took her to various theaters in tow, but finding one that wasn't fully booked out for the next several months proved impossible - not to mention the brows raised at her name, as if she needed to prove her worth before she could even step on the stage. Did she have an invitation? No, of course not, she's here to build her career! What? She needs a name to perform here? Yes, it's Bassal-- no, that's not what they mean. Of course she understands they can't just let anyone on stage, but she's-- and before long, she find herself escorted outside.
Her name. Yes, maybe she had the wrong idea - the common folk need to know who she is before she can perform in the big cities, because these ignorant theater managers can't be bothered to scope out new talent themselves. So she needs to start with smaller venues. Build her name up to the untalented, get everyone talking about her, and then her invitations to perform at the top theaters around Sornieth will pour in. Humble beginnings will sound better in the interviews, as well. Half-remembering the bard who accompanied her on this short trip, she bid him farewell, and set off to find a more modest audience.
We are a clan of scholars, we have no time nor interest in such frivolous things.
Bassal's next show was for a small clan and her audience was lackluster at best. While her performance was a treat to the Starsite Oracle and hatchlings, the older crowd seemed to frown at such a thing. Putoff to such a reaction, Bassal stormed off enraged. How dare they not appreciate my performance! Entertaining to only children? What am I a circus clown? Ridiculous. Shortly after she left the stage, a brusque skydancer clad in skulls and ruined drapery pulled her aside. The dragon questioned the being, leveling her piercing gaze unto the emerald imperial, wanting to know what in the world would bring a thespian to Starsite of all places. The skydancer, named Esoleil, went on to explain why her preformance held little traction with the arcance audience. Scholars? Are scholars not capable of enjoying the finer arts, watching as a dragon preforms a piece they spent years mastering? I will just have to continue on, perhaps leave this land of scholars.
It made sense that a clan of backwoods garden folk wouldn't properly appreciate me...
Bassal visited a garden glen, a haven for travelers. At first she was thrilled, the caretaker said he would happily host a performance. And that he did. Many dragons came to watch it. And she was met with applause and appreciation, which she adored, at first. But they also hosted other performances. Performances by absolute imbeciles. A ballerina who Bassal didn't think was that good. An obelisk that did a nerdy presentation on sparkly rocks. Stupid. A baker that put on a cooking show, which seemed to be the person favorite of that dumb caretaker. And all of them were met with the same applause and appreciation that Bassal's was. Even though hers was superior! Bassal learned that day that receiving appreciation that is mass-produced and given to everyone is worse than being met with disdain and disapproval.
