Biography
Iriartea was hatched high above the Viridian Labyrinth, in the Gladebough Village. Silent even then, its Clan was one who had allied with the Clan of Moonlit Rays, a training point for mercenaries of all shapes and sizes. Iriartea had quietly vanished into the Jungle not long after hatching, only to reappear days later with flowerbuds growing around its now-blank eyes, so consumed by foliage that its scales were barely visible.
Recognising how unusual this was, Moonlit Rays’ then-ambassador Catopsis offered to take Iriartea under his wing, and took it with him when he returned to his homeclan in the Vale. As they travelled, he noticed Iriatea moving oddly, each movement jerky and unfamiliar despite the fact it had already learned to walk weeks ago.
The vines coiling around Iriartea’s body sprouted and grew as it did, seemingly emerging from beneath its scales. Its clanmates were alarmed and concerned, but they did not appear to harm it and it never complained, so they reluctantly let them be.
Hatchlings often tell stories about how the real Iriartea was killed long ago, its body taken over by the creeping vines. Perhaps such stories are truer than some dragons might believe...
