Glacier takes great pains in constructing a nest that will protect his hatchlings, inside a den that is like a fortress against the chaotic rubble of the rest of the lair. Larimar hatches wide-eyed, and quickly inherits his father's paranoia. He stays in the back of the den, quietly reading and listening to his other father's stories about the clan as it used to be. He realizes, in time, that there might be a lair out there that is whole along with its clan, and safe besides. Longing for such a place, Larimar pushes down his anxiety and sets out.
