Salem was one of the first stolen hatchlings, brought into Hollowed's Tree at a young age. Not long after she was brought in, the army discovered the mysterious powers she has related to the dead. Some stories say that it's possible for a dragon to be born with an ability that allows them to communicate with the dead. It's considered to be a myth and often seen as a scam to some, but Salem is capable of seeing the dead. The problem is, she can't hear them.

Her power isn't too important as it is according to Hollowed's Tree. There's no need for seeing the dead when combat should be the most important thing. Salem and the others were put through harsh training to become elite soldiers to Hollowed. But like many of the other young dragons who were brought here, Salem longed for a different life where she could do what she wanted to do. And while she did have friends like Gio and Grimm, they weren't the same as Banshee and Augustus (two outsiders who showed her a life outside of the tree).

One day she will find a way to not only help the uprising, but escape the system so she can live a life of freedom.
