Alfred is a good-natured and well-meaning man, one of the precious few remaining in Yharnam. He greets strangers with warmth and joviality, as is the way of the Executioners. First and foremost, Alfred is zealously faithful to the martyr Logarius, a brave hero who led the charge into the bowels of Cainhurst castle to purge the abomination at the source.
Long ago, a Byrgenwerth scholar shared the forbidden Oldblood with their queen, creating the first of the Vilebloods, fiendish cannibals who, in their gluttony, partake of the blood of their fellow man so as to gain the favor of their foul queen and produce more of their ilk. They defile and desecrate the sacred practice of blood ministration of the Healing Church, and so they must be destroyed, lest their sacrilege spread.
Alas, the cleansing was not successful, and Logarius sacrificed himself to become a blessed anchor, guarding against evil. The queen remains due to the blessing from a Great One, no doubt thanks to the influence of that rotten blood. Alfred would love nothing more than to finish his master's work.

Both a symbol of the Executioners and their creed as well as the weapon of choice used to slaughter the Vilebloods. Requiring brutal strength to wield, the blood which has soaked deep into the wood imbues the wheel with arcane power.
"Master, look! I've done it! I've done it! I've smashed, and pounded and grounded this rotten siren into fleshy pink pulp! There you filthy monstrosity -- What good's your immortality now!? Try stirring up trouble in this sorry state - all mangled and twisted with every inside on the outside for all the world to see!"
