Ayizan is an oracle who really, really wishes he weren't one. Really, of all the people on Sornieth who could have gotten prophetic visions, did it have to be him?

Maybe he would be okay with his visions if he could control when they happened, because that's the worst thing about them: they come to him randomly and unpredictably, and without any form of warning. And he can't control what he's physically doing when they happen. He could be reading a book on his couch, having a pleasant evening and-- BAM! Vision! And then his book is on the floor and he's lost his page. Great.

But his grievances with his ability don't end there! The situation that his ability has gotten into is arguably worse than the ability itself: Adrienne, in her insatiable thirst for control and power, has tricked Ayizan into being trapped under her control. So long as he reports his visions, he will stay alive and can live a peaceful life.

Ayizan absolutely hates living in such a situation, but what other choice does he have? He may be an oracle, but he's not some sort of warrior or mage or escape artist or whatever. He doesn't know anyone who can help him, and even if he did, he doesn't expect anyone to take their chances with one of the most vengeful people around.

So he just does what he can to try and survive. He stays in his apartment as much as he can, avoiding as many risky activities as possible, lest he gets a vision and finds himself face down on the floor with an injury. He's become very withdrawn and difficult to approach as a result. He doesn't like living this way, but what can he do? His fear of his ability is far greater than his desire to change.

▬▬ ORIGIN ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Adrienne has been trying to get her hands on an oracle for some time. But the thing about oracles is that, well, predicting the future is one of their big things. More often than not, they would foresee Adrienne's actions and avoid accepting any of her "deals." Even when Adrienne skips her honeyed word tricks and just decides to capture them outright, they manage to get away. This has happened so many times that Adrienne has specifically assigned a handful of scouts to hunt down and kill these runaway oracles for being too uncooperative and potentially leaking information about the clan.

Ayizan is quite literally the first and only oracle that Adrienne has managed to get her hands on. There's a few reasons for this, but the main one is that Ayizan's visions are wildly inconsistent. When they happen, what they predict, and how many details they provide are completely out of his control. This is not something that is unique to him, but it also isn't something that's necessarily common. Only a handful of the oracles that Adrienne has sought out experience visions in this way, but luck happened to be in their favor and granted them the foresight to evade her. Ayizan just happened to be unlucky, and he did not foresee her actions.

Despite being an oracle, it always feels as if Ayizan is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Always getting visions at the worst moment possible, but not getting them in a moment where it would save him from Adrienne's control.

» Ayizan's visions have an absolutely wild range in terms of how far in the future they are and how specific they get. So he could have a vision about dangerous dominion attacks that could potentially wipe out the entire clan, but he could also have one about falling down the stairs in an hour.
