calathea's friend

personality: tends to be on the quieter side; prone to moods where socializing is draining. generally patient with things except for when she isn't; often gets frustrated when feeling stuck. considers reliability to be very important, and tries to live up to that as an ideal. the kind of person who tries to think around a problem, not bust through it. very intentional sort of person - makes plans and puts them into motion, not really a believer in happy accidents. tends to be deadpan and sarcastic.

atka was born and raised in flotsam town alongside her two sisters. her father was often away for months at a time working as a fishing captain, and her mother often paid more time and attention to her younger siblings. she spent much of her time wandering around the city talking to its other wayward children and struggling to find her own way independently.
her parents ended up divorcing when she was 12 and she ended up being sent to live with a family friend, an old coatl named Lobodon, who she now considers to be her dad. her birth mother has made no attempt to get back into contact with her or with lobodon, but her relationship with her birth father is merely awkward instead of nonexistent.

in her early adulthood, she spent a lot of time bouncing between jobs, unsure what to do or where to go when apparently everyone else around her had figured it out long before. eventually the feeling of aimlessness crept into her heart and settled there. it wasn't a simple thing, and it wasn't a tangible thing, but it pushed her out of flotsam town. lobodon did the only thing he thought he could - and he meddled.

through lobodon's meddling, atka ended up visiting scattered family wherever it could be found. she went to the frigid floes, the churnscar wharf, even the edges of the snowsquall tundra - but none of it held anything for her. wandering felt good, though, so she kept traveling for a while, even after she'd exhausted every last relative she had.

needs a reason to meet Calathea but actually i'm not a hundo percent sure if atka needs to be the first to meet calathea. but i do want them to be friends
