Biography

As the sun begins to set, I stare across the water to the frozen lands of the Icewarden, a place where few ever dare tread, my home, had began to slowly attract me further and further to it. And yet, even from there, it had called me. It had called us. I find myself simply staring out past the bustling domain of the Windsinger into the frozen territory, questioning the soft breeze as it blows tantalizing bits of cool air towards me. With me is my Kinathe, my beloved progenitor who has been with me since the very beginning.

With the shade's embrace, comes a sense of purpose.. a strange homesickness, almost. Having been intimidated by the chill since I had come to the lands of Sorienth, I had dared not tread there. Even though now, as I sit and stare across the lake from the safety of the reeds that separated us from the lands of the Plaguebringer, I can't help but notice a strange blue glow coming from my left. It is enough to break me out of this trance, a trance in which I still have yet to understand, I decide to investigate the cause of the glow. Gently crawling towards the light, I stick my head under the bush to see a lone shadow egg seemingly abandoned, with the little wisps of shade gently weaving around it.

Hesitant at first, I carefully reach out to pick up the egg, witnessing the shade surrounding it gently brush past me under the bush and off to other places, I begin carefully backing out from under the bush with the little egg gently tucked close to me to ensure its safety. Once out, I move back from the cliff and cradle the heavy egg, watching the murk wisps move towards the lands of the Shadowbinder to reunite with it's suffocating murk.

What could bring a shadow egg so far across the lake? It couldn't possibly have been abandoned.. I would have seen it when I came here before now. And that murk.. it seemed alive, almost like an extension of something or someone. Or was it the egg that called out, feeling my presence? There's so much I don't understand..

I'm shaken from my thoughts by the sounds of cracking. Terrified of the cliff falling out, as that is what I assume the cracking to be, I hold the egg even tighter and back away from the cliff. It takes me longer to notice than average to realize it was not the sounds of a crumbling cliff that I had heard, but that the egg once I looked down, was cracking.

The egg.. did I hurt it from holding it too tightly?

I can't help but wonder, but wonder no longer, as the egg begins to gently wiggle as a tiny blue foot reaches out of one of the cracks, bearing soft fuzz to it's leg. I look to my trusty Mirror companion, of whom creates a nest for the little one to hatch in, and give them a gentle look of gratitude. Setting the egg down next to her, I sit and watch as more of the leg comes out, followed by a head as the shell cracks and a tiny Tundra falls out and rolls into Kinathe, looking up with it's deep purple eyes at the sparkling mist coming from her eyes falls onto the beginnings of the young one's pink mane.

I am entranced by this sight, as yes, I've seen many eggs be hatched, but not once were any of them as unexpected as this and have yet to have had my own. My heart is filled with warmth for the little dragon next to my mirror companion as it snuggles against her while her coat and wings glitter together with her eyes. Seeing this little one look up with it's wide, innocent eyes, I reach out tenderly to give it a soft rub on the back, which lulls it slowly to sleep.

"You alright with us keeping this little one, Kinathe?" I ask, wanting to make sure it was alright by her, only to watch as they close their eyes and gently curl around the young sleeping Tundra. I remove my hand and softly smile at the sight, as it is truly a beautiful one. That gesture alone was enough to confirm that she had taken a liking to this little one, and I look around as the reeds softly sing with the wind flowing through them from the distant Crescendo.

"Sleep tight, Kinathe.. we'll take them back to our den in the morning. It shouldn't be far.." With that, I lay down for the night a little ways away from them, and shut my eyes. The ever-beckoning mist greets me one last time, as I drift off to sleep..
