Azir made his way into the Light territory while following a large band of scavenging dragons. He was weak and hungry, not given enough food by the band he was with. Nightwatcher found him attempting to steal from the clan's food stores late at night. Instead of driving him away, Nightwatcher showed pity and sent Azir off with food and treasure. After Azir was driven off by his group, he found Nightwatcher and was accepted into the clan.

Azir was born into a traveling group of actors. Both of his parents were actors and they taught Azir to be an actor at a young age. He also studied many other crafts, in case the troupe fell on hard times. He was happy in his life, and grew to a full adult in the group. Then one day Azir and his troupe was attacked by thieves on the way to another town. Azir managed to escape alive, but nobody else did. Eventually, after roaming the lands, he came upon Nightwatcher and joined the clan.

Azir is a talkative dragon. He can ramble on and on for hours without even noticing. (The only dragons who don't mind are his mate Nightwatcher and his friend Dryad.) Azir is also a very show-offy dragon, boasting a wide variety of riches obtained from lovers and fans on his journeys. Azir can be a drama queen, and rather lazy, but he manages to do everything that is required of him on time. He doesn't do any more, or any less, but the others are happy that he gets the job done. Because he is an actor he pronounces every word he says beautifully and articulates well. Azir is also charming and polite even to the point where some of his clan mates tease him for being "dainty", although he takes it well. Azir is a clean freak and will often times remain behind with Dryad to help her clan up the lair.
