Though The Lightning and Light flights share quite the similar name, residents of Sornieth generally don’t group them together as they would the Plague flight and The Nature flight or Water and Ice. Though Shocker has changed that, by being loyal to both deities. Even if it wasn’t really his choice, at first.

Shocker hails from the Sunbeam Ruins, from an esteemed pearlcatcher family made mostly up of priests who worship the Lightweaver. He was next in line to become the head of the family, though before anything could happen he was struck by a stray bolt of lightning- leaving him a ridgeback with a unique pattern reminiscent to the very thing that had left him in this situation in the first place.

Though this lightning bolt wasn’t average at all. Nay- it was one sent by the Stormcatcher himself. The Lightning deity had seen Shocker and decided that he’d make a great resident of the Shifting Expanse- possibly even bringing the tradition of priests over. Though in the end it caused a minor fight between the two deities.

Now Shocker has appeased his gods by becoming loyal to both- even though the Lightweaver and the Stormcatcher may still want him for their own. Though he still practices and worships the light deity, he does permanently live in the Shifting Expanse, spreading his knowledge on the two flights he is loyal to.

It was late afternoon, the sun lighting up the porch Shocker sat on wonderfully, reminding him of his old home. He was nose deep in a book; one sent to him by his mother, detailing some of the more important tidbits of history in the Sunbeam Ruins. He was so invested, in fact, that he didn’t even realize the hatchling reaching out to touch his unique scales. What he did notice, was the little thing recoiling in pain.

“You okay?” Shocked set the book down on the porch and turned to see the small coatl sticking one of her fingers into her small, toothy mouth.

“Your scales shocked me!” She cried, talking around the slightly singed claw.

Shocker motioned for her to pull the claw and inspected it closely- no major damage. “You’ll be fine in a couple days.” He assured the hatchling.

“I didn’t even know scales could do that.” The coatl had calmed down now, her short attention span quite apparent.

Shocker laughed slightly. “My scales do that because the Stormcatcher sent a special lightning bolt down to hit me once- ever since, my scales have been rather dangerous.”

“Woah, that’s really cool! Do you know why he’d do that?”

Shocker hesitated, wondering if he should regale the small hatchling in the fight he caused between the light and lightning deities. In the end he decided she would want to hear an abridged version.

“I used to serve the Lightweaver, but then the Stormcatcher thought I’d be a good servant to him- he sent a lightning bolt to keep me here, which caused a bit of a fight between the two. And I guess it worked! I live here in the Shifting Expanse now.”

“You got two of the deities to fight over you? That’s what I wanna do when I grow up!” The coatl hatchling giggled, her claw seemingly magically healed now.

“Well, you’d better run off to your parents now.” Shocker gave a slight nod to the coatl and ridgeback that were beginning to hurry over. The small hatchling ran over to them and presumably began telling exaggerated tales of what Shocker had told her. Her parents shot a confused look at Shocker before turning away, letting the charged ridgeback get back to his reading.
