Perhaps it was because she had hatched from an egg rather than being awoken by the Earthshaker after spending centuries as a statue, but Alexandria always felt as if life moved a little too quickly for her tastes. Even as a hatchling, she would spend most of her days in statue form, her senses too overwhelmed by the vibrant world around her to stay in her dragon form for more than a few hours at a time. Whenever her mother would visit the clan’s library, Alexandria always tagged along, finding the peaceful atmosphere to be an oasis from the chaos of clan life. Only in the quiet of the library, surrounded by musty shelves of books, did Alexandra truly feel comfortable in her own scales.
No one in her birthclan ever pressured her to participate more in clan life, but still, Alexandria often struggled with guilt over not helping her clanmates like other Obelisks seemed thrilled to do. Eventually, she made the decision to seek a new clan, perhaps one smaller in size, and somewhere beyond the Viridian Labyrinth, a realm whose diverse array of life continually exhausted her. Seeking solitude and desolation, Alexandria settled in the Southern Icefields. There, she found a clan that respected her desire for isolation and that just so happened to be looking for their own librarian. For the first time, Alexandria felt a spark of motivation flare within her, and she knew instantly she had found her new home. She took to organizing the library with great zeal and enthusiasm, pushing herself to remain in her dragon form far longer than she ever had before and without feeling the overwhelming exhaustion she once did. When she wasn’t dusting shelves or cataloguing the library’s collection, she resumed her statue form near the library's entrance, assuming her duty as its solemn guardian, ready to spring to action to defend her precious charge should the need arise. |
