Rebellious as a hatchling, Parula resented her parents for naming her after a bird (because birds were boring, duh), so she did everything in her power not to live up to her name. Inspiration struck when she was wandering in the Windswept Plateau and came across a songbird’s nest around which was coiled a thin, green snake. Parula watched in awe as the snake devoured egg after egg (there were five in total) while the parents of the eggs chirped frantically from a nearby bush (how dumb). The snake ignored them and focused instead on how best to swallow their children whole. From that moment onward, she was hooked. Parula quickly became the most devoted snake researcher in the Windswept Plateau and when she was confident she had identified and thoroughly studied every species of serpent that lived there, she expanded her quest across Sorneith.

After visiting every flight, Parula decided to settle down in the Gladekeeper’s Realm, mostly because it had the highest species diversity of snakes out of all the flights. There she met her mate, Apollo, then a single bachelor and member of Xayxayx clan, and after hearing how highly he spoke of the clan’s matriarch, KucKuc, Parula decided to ask if she could join. Luckily, KucKuc saw the value in Parula’s extensive knowledge base, and the Imperial has remained with the clan ever since. She often captures venomous snakes to create antivenom at the request of Izrea. Her most treasured companion is her pet Corn Snake whom she dubbed Swallow.
