Unlike his fellow Veilspun, Belle, Ink is feisty and has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. While most Veilspun are aware of their small stature and have come to terms with it, Ink has always been sensitive about his size and tends to snap at other dragons who point out how small he is. While his exact origins are unknown, there are rumors that say that Ink was forced out of several Clans because of his attitude. Grouchy and sardonic, Ink is known for his sharp remarks and easily offended nature, and other dragons tend to call him high strung. However, many will acknowledge that despite his nasty temper, Ink serves an important purpose in the Clan.

Ink serves alongside the rest of the Insect Finders, but unlike the rest, he has a special role- due to his small stature, Ink can easily weave in and out of trees and tunnels that no other dragon can fit inside- his small size allows him to quietly creep into small spaces and track down bugs with deadly efficiency. While he does not always bring back the largest haul of food for the Clan, Ink is noted to have the highest success rate of all of the Insect Finders, and perhaps even among all of the hunters. Ink is surprisingly humble about this statistic, claiming that he's simply "doing his job".

Melody and Anna are aware of Ink's temper and have an enjoyment of messing with him, noting that sometimes it's fun to set him off. As a result, he tends to spend more time with Swipe and Angel, who he seems to be a bit more civil and calm with- he will sometimes let them of the hook if they say something that annoys him. He has a close relationship with Belle as fellow Veilspuns, but their conversations are often onesided, with Ink ranting to Belle, who calmly listens to him. As far as the rest of the Clan goes, Ink is liked well enough, but the feeling is not always mutual- he enjoys chatting with Glimmer and Dove, and has kind relations with most of the Plant Gatherers through Belle. Some dragons like to anger him just for fun, such as Diamond, Luna, and Orzios. Mantis in particular likes to savagely taunt Ink, to the point where they have to occasionally be forced to sit on opposite sides of the lair at mealtime.

Eventually, Ink stopped yelling long enough to tell Belle how he feels, resulting in them becoming mates, and later the birth of Stella. Ink is notably extremely proud of his daughter and her skills as a fisherman, and will loudly rant about her when he can get away with. Belle finds it charming. Stella has to leave the room whenever this happens.
