Swipe was always a bit clumsy and ditzy. As a young hatchling, he was noted for his...er, interesting colors. But he was ever the optimist and held dreams of being a great explorer like many other wind dragons. He had an open mind and wouldn't let others keep him down. For the most part, he was often mocked or teased as a child for his habit of getting lost and his bizarre colors. Swipe let the insults slide right off- he was happy. But one day, the wandering Wildclaw strayed a bit too far from his home. He was confused- at some point, the green hills had disappeared. Swipe tried to find his way home, but for all the hills he looked at, he couldn't find his way back.

Worried, Swipe tried to bury his fears and embrace his adventurous side. Finally! A journey he could go on! However, Swipe soon learned the hardships that accompanied a traveler. He had to deal with many an aggressive dragon snapping at him accidentally entering their territory. Other dragons would laugh at him or scoff when he asked for directions. As time grated on, Swipe's smile started to fade. His feet started to hurt, and his wings and tail started to droop. This was his great journey? The adventure of a lifetime? It seemed so amazing as a hatchling, but now that he was here, all he wanted to do was go home...to a home he could not find.

Swipe continued to explore the land, crossing territory after territory. He saw the pulsating earth of the Scarred Wasteland, and the strange forests of the Tangled Wood. He watched the molten lava in the Ashfall Waste, and marveled at the strange lightning in the Shifting Expanse. Eventually, there was one place left to go, and Swipe dragged himself into the Icefield. By this point, his body had grown tired and weak- food was a rarity for him, and while he had managed to survive on scraps until this point, he was losing his battle with hunger. On one snowy morning, he finally collapsed. When he managed to next open his eyes, he saw a beautiful blue Wildclaw staring down at him- curious and somewhat concerned.

Her name was Yurallia. She quickly determined that her fellow Wildclaw was in poor condition and helped him. Perhaps it was pity. Perhaps it was loyalty to one's species. Maybe it was something more. But regardless, she helped him and took him back to base. Once again, Swipe had to endure some harsh comments- a dark Mirror and bright colored Pearlcatcher both jeered about his colors. But the leader- a Coatl who looked similar to a corpse- agreed to take him in for a time. Swipe was interviewed by other Clan members to find out what he could do. He admitted that he wasn't too good at anything.

Several Clan members tried to work him. But he lacked the sense of direction for patrolling, the camouflage and speed for hunting, and hard heart for fighting. But one thing Swipe had was reflexes. Life as an explorer taught him how to react. One day, Melody witnessed him whacking a fly right out of the air with his tail. From that point on, Swipe was taken on as an Insect Finder. While he doesn't explore as much anymore, Swipe is happier than ever- this is the life for him.

Swipe is friendly and bright, though he is known to be rather nervous and cautious, moreso than many dragons in the Clan- this is due to his coloring being rather noticeable, so he tries to avoid being seen as much as he can by enemies. He is still friendly and always willing to help, and enjoys running across the frozen plain during time off.

He gets along well with Yurallia, Melody, and Nero. Angel is friendly to him. Cass, Ravage, and Vivid find him to be a joke. He gets a bit jealous of Trager. Swipe himself gets into little arguments with Gideon, who often taunts him about his disgusting colors. Swipe, in turn, taunts Gideon about his cowardice.

Swipe fought in the Bringer War, although he eventually fell to another dragon. Nevertheless, the only serious injury he received was a blow to the head, and he survived the battle and recovered quickly.
