Jay

Jay is impatient and overconfident. He can't stand still for long, and is always looking for ways to entertain himself, make money, or both. He's not keen to expend effort on either of those needs, however, and would rather try and convince others to do the work for him. Jay has at least one friend willing to put up with him, but said friend's patience varies.
Jay's well-to-do, career-obsessed mother did everything she could to put him on "the right path," ie. a proper job as a computer engineer. Unfortunately, no amount of expensive tutoring or bribing school staff could get Jay to sit in a classroom. This wasn't helped by a chance exposure to Shade at a young age, giving Jay acute poisoning that took years to treat. Beyond the obvious physical scars, Jay's magic was permanently muted, putting him even further behind his peers. He's more or less recovered from the ordeal now, and has been out of school for years.
